a place both wonderful and strange

Two people standing in a doorway inside an art gallery, with framed artwork on the walls behind them. One man has a beard, wearing a baseball cap, a denim jacket, and cargo pants. The woman has long hair in braids, wearing a purple cardigan, a graphic t-shirt, and jeans. They are smiling at the camera.

Galaxy Pies is mainly my project. I’m Alexandra Martinez, a writer and baker. I got my start baking pies November 2016 at the Blue Stove in Brooklyn. From there I made my way to the world famous 4&20 Blackbirds and back to the West Coast at I Like Pie in Claremont. If I’m not at the shop you’ll probably see my husband, Justin Paszul, who is also an artist as well as a librarian at the Joshua Tree library.

When I’m not baking or at the shop I’m usually reading or writing. I write book reviews and other things over here if you’re interested. You can also purchase my award winning poetry collection, Our Lady of Perpetual Desert, here. Check out Justin’s art here. You can get a peek behind the red velvet curtain here. We look forward to serving you the finest pie under the desert sky.
